…that of all 4 grandchildren on my side, the first, and hopefully only, grandchild to break a bone is probably the most calm and cautious one of them all.
We’ve survived our first week. Only 5 more to go! I’m getting better at finding things for him to do. I’m using a boppy pillow under his armpits so he can play on the floor without having to hold himself up. He seems to really like that. The only problem is that he can push himself backwards but can’t go forwards. He can roll to his back, but hasn’t rolled to his tummy yet. He gets frustrated when he ends up somewhere he didn’t intend or something ends up out of reach, but he is much happier that he can play instead of just being propped up somewhere where he can’t reach anything. I did call the orthopedist today. Cole’s little toe seems a little squished and he cries when you touch it. They basically said to try separating it from the other toes with cotton to see if that helps. He didn’t like me messing with it, but it is a little better now. He screamed the whole time and cried for a while after I was finished. He fell asleep about 5 minutes later, so I’m thinking some of that was from being a little over tired. As far as his stink goes, I’m not sure what we can do about that. I bought some different tape to cover the diaper area, but I think he’s just going to reek of pee for the next 5 weeks. There is no way to dry it out really. I may try a blow dryer, but I’m going to need Pat’s help for that. I’m sure it will be another horrific experience seeing as how he doesn’t like the blow dryer when I use it. Other than that, things are ok.
I had a check up today. I will be 34 weeks on Saturday. Everything is still looking A-OK so no worries! It’s hard to believe I’m this far already. Hopefully the last 6 weeks will go quickly. I have a feeling they will sneak up on me before I’m ready!
