Baby Names Part II

Well, after all that advice, still stuck.  Maybe we’ll just go with Cole’s choice and call it Puppy.  So here is a list that I am putting up for criticism.  Don’t be too harsh, these are names I actually like.

For boys:

Tate

Seth

Zachary

For girls:

Mycah

Clare

I think Tate goes perfectly with Cole, but Pat isn’t crazy about the name.  I don’t want a pretty-pretty-princess girl’s name.  I don’t necessarily want a masculine name like Taylor or Jordan, but Juliet is out (sorry K).  I think Mycah with a ‘y’ makes it more feminine.  Pat won’t give me a yes or no, just a shrug on this.  So let me know what you think.  I want honest opinions, but unless you are a close friend or family and Zachary is your sworn enemy, I dont’ want to hear about how a kid named Zach pulled your hair once in kindergarten.  I’m looking for things more like too trendy or sounds horrible with Remiger.  I’m still open for suggestions, but try to stick to simple names.  We’re not looking for Sepulvina or anything (honestly, K???).

  • Here’s my top three (in no particular order) …

    BOYS
    Seth Adam
    Tate Adam
    Noah Christian

    GIRLS
    Ella Clare
    Mikah Lynn
    Hannah Montana

  • yes, most definately Hannah Montana. Why didn’t I think of cursing my child with that name!! Oh, and we have a cow named Ella, and she’s not very pretty or very nice.

  • I like Tate for a boy, just have him be ready to be called tator tot. Seth would be hard for the kid to say if he has speech problems. I know from experience-I had trouble with th and s’s, so it was interesting how my name sounded. Micah 6:8 is one of my favorite Bible verses so that is also up there for me and Clare is classic whether the child is 2 months, 20 years, or 102 years. Love the boots!

  • I am not fond of Mycah spelled that way, she would always have to deal with people either misspelling it or mispronouncing it. I like Clare-not sure what you would put for a middle name; I think Marie is still way over-used in the middle name aspect. I kind of liked Cash for a boy’s name. It’s different; it makes me think of a cowboy and some of the guys I had class with in college.

  • Hello, 80’s? Can I have my boy names back? Seth & Zachary? That’s the best you can do? Zachary is kind of timeless (in an “I give up” sort of way) but to me it says “we couldn’t think of anything better so we went with Zachary because we’re lame” ;-P

Oops, I don’t think I’m following the instructions to not be harsh. Sorry. The 3 boy names you have are way better than Cash so I guess I’ll be okay. How about Davis Tate or Lucas Tate?

Now for the girls names. I love Clare & you could pair it with my absolute favorite, Juliet & have the perfect girls name. Strong & sweet at the same time. Clare Juliet – what could be better? She’ll be the envy of all her friends with her perfect name. The other girls will all wonder why their parents named them such lame things like Hannah, & Madison, & Grace, when Clare Juliet was just sitting there, waiting to be dusted off & put to use.

My name in German class was Meike (think back, that’s right! It was pronounced Micah) Anyway, Nick Squires & Mike Deming discovered that Meike rhymed loosely with Schlampe (slut) & for most of my 2 years in German class I was greeted with Meike, Meike, Meike, ist ein Schlampe, Schlampe, Schlampe. If it had been anyone else, they wouldn’t have gotten away with it. I think you can see, no matter how you spell it, she will be Meike, Meike, Meike, ist ein Schlampe, Schlampe, Schlampe to me.

    K~

  • You know, I would be really offended except this is coming from a woman who seriously considered naming her child Sepulvina. Anyway, that being said, I think we need to go back to the drawing board for boys names. I do like Clare a lot, but haven’t mentioned it to Pat yet. So we’ll see, and speaking of ordinary names, wasn’t your top pick for Ethan, Daniel for a long time?

  • I think you missed the sarcasm when I was talking about Sepulvena. I think our girls name for Ethan was Lauren & for Gavin it was Clare.

Daniel isn’t boring normal, it’s just normal ;-)

    K~

  • I like the name Audrey or Aubree. Not sure about boy names…

  • I like Clare, but I always think of “Breakfast Club” when I hear that name. Molly Ringwald’s character was Clare – and Judd Nelson’s character said, “Clare, that’s a fat girls’ name!” How about Bethany for a middle name? Clare Bethany.

I don’t really have a favorite boys’ name, I do like Charles, I had a friend named Charles, his nickname was Chaz.
