Officially Moving

I have decided to make the move to blogger.  Visit us at our new home www.twopreemies.blogspot.com  It’s easier for me to use, change the style, colors, etc.  It’s not as easy to leave a comment, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out.  SO don’t forget to add the new blog to your google reader!

I’m not sure if I will be able to move posts from this blog over, but I’ll try, at least with the more important ones.

Maybe Moving

I’ve been toying with the idea of switching to google’s blogger.  It appears to be easier to customize.  I’m in the process of seeing what I can do with it.  Go on over and check it out.  www.twopreemies.blogspot.com  Let me know what you think.  I’ll let you know if and when I decide to do a permanent move.

Promised Pictures

Cole survived nap time.  He fell asleep after about 15 minutes and didn’t get out of bed until I came to get him.  He said he had fun in his new bed.  Hopefully tonight goes without a hitch.  I didn’t get my nap though.

The Big Boy Bed

We borrowed a second crib from a friend of my sister’s since Cole wasn’t ready to be out of a crib yet.  Well, since they are moving, we need to get the crib back.  Instead of buying a second crib, we decided to buy a toddler bed.  We’ll eventually move him into the queen bed, but he’s just too little for that yet.  I put the bed together yesterday and took the crib down today.  So his nap is the first time he’s had to use it.  He’s not too crazy about it.  I’m listening to him cry through the monitor at the moment.  It should be an interesting night.

I’m hoping in the next couple of weeks to get Tate’s room cleaned out and him moved up there.  That hinges on Pat getting the baseboard heater wired up, so who knows.  He’s been sleeping 7-8 hours about every other night.  He seems to alternate between 3 and 5 am.  Luckily he’ll go back to sleep for another couple of hours.

I’ll try to post some pictures of the new bed, along with the boys in their costumes.  We had a Halloween party at school last night.  For now I’m going to try to catch a little nap this afternoon.  That may be wishful thinking…

My Political Opinion

With the election approaching I thought I’d explore my political views.  First off I want to say I don’t consider myself very political.  I don’t claim a political party.  I grew up in a family I would consider Democrats and married into a very Republican one.  I’m not here to start a political debate.  I’m mostly just sharing some of my pet peeves with the upcoming election.

One of my biggest peeves is one-issue voters.  I’m pro-life.  I believe a woman has a choice, to take a chance getting pregnant or abstain.  It’s pretty simple.  Accidentally get pregnant?  There are other options.  But since 1973 we have had 21 years of Republican/Pro-life presidents.  Abortion is a social issue, not a political one.  Until we approach it as such, Roe vs. Wade won’t be overturned.

Another peeve is politicians who vote strictly down party lines.  You are supposed to represent me, and I don’t always agree down party lines.  Both of our MN senators received more calls to vote agains the buy out than to vote for it.  They both voted for it, but with reservation.  What does that mean???  Granted, the buy out needed to happen, but still, if they aren’t listening to the people, why did we put them there?

Political ads…. ugh.  I am so sick of negative ads.  He smeared his opponent, and then he called for a halt on negative ads.  Boo freaking hoo.  The best one by far is the one claiming that a candidate voted for Bush, then denied it.  I deny it too.  But aren’t we supposed to have anonymous ballot so that we can vote without fear of retaliation?  Just dumb.

So when you go to the polls on Tuesday, please vote in such a way that brings a change for good in our country.  Vote so that our children receive a better education.  Vote to bring out troops home.  Vote to bring about a health care program that works.  Vote to build a better economy.  Vote on the issueS that can be changed.

Old Cell Phones

This past spring we did our second March for Babies.  They were also accepting old cell phones as donations.  We had a couple, but couldn’t seem to generate many more to send in.  We did manage to get 2 more, but I never got around to sending them in.  So I’ve had these phones sitting around.  I felt a little guilty, as they were meant to be donated to charity, but I didn’t know what to do with them once the walk was over.  I was reading the Reader’s Digest the other day and came across  a blurb about recycling old cell phones.  So tonight I finally did it.  Go to flipswap.com and you can send in your old cell phones.  The best part, they pay shipping!  You can choose to have the money sent to you, or one of the charities listed.  The Susan G Kommen for the Cure will receive $16.89 from our phones and we’ll have 2 trees planted since 2 of them are worthless and need to be recycled.  So if you have old cell phones sitting around, check it out.

Missing the Ordinary

I finally sat down today to write out the boys’ birth stories.  I finished Tate’s but he wouldn’t let me get to Cole’s.  Sad, I know, he’s almost 2 1/2.  Anywho, as I was writing I realized how much I would like to have an ordinary L&D story.  After Cole was born I spent many hours sitting at home attached to my pump.  Daytime TV usually involves A Baby Story on TLC.  As I sat there, alone, with my newborn baby in the hospital, I started to really wish I had a “normal” story.  Granted, his is probably more exciting, but until I watched that show, I didn’t realize what I had missed.  I didn’t get to have a newborn flopped up on my belly.  Pat didn’t get to cut the cord, I didn’t get to nurse my baby right after birth.  Instead I got to see his blurry(thanks to the mag sulfate) little face peeking out of some blankets across the room, which was a big room.  They held him up and then rushed him away.  At the time, it didn’t bother me, until I realized it should have been different.  I remember thinking, next time we’ll get that.  This can’t happen twice right?  I was wrong.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for our two healthy boys, early or not.  Part of me wants to try one more time to get it right.  Part of me thinks I shouldn’t risk it again.  Part of me thinks we should just go through adoption, but part of me doesn’t want to deal with the hastle and the money.  Some days I’m very content with just 2 boys, but some days I really think I want another child.  It doesn’t help that I know about a dozen people expecting babies right now.  I guess only time will tell…

Randomly Fun

We haven’t had a terribly exciting week.  Busy, but ordinary busy, which is just fine with me.  Here are some random photos for you to enjoy.

Cole teasing Roy under the bed with a fly swatter.  The cat has been desperately trying to find places in the house that Cole can’t go.  He usually runs out of the room as soon as he sees Cole enter it.

Cole has started “helping” me empty the dishwasher.  The first time he did a great job.

Since then he’s gotten a little sloppy…

Here he is enjoying some raisens at his desk.

Tate demonstrating his smiles.  He started smiling last Friday.  He has to be in the right mood, but when you get him going he’s pretty cute.

Here is a video of Tate smiling and cooing.  I know, it’s not terribly exciting, but he’s so much more likeable now that he smiles!

Here are the super cute shoes I bought today.  I have no idea what I’m going to wear them with, but I couldn’t resist any longer.

This is my big find.  A local nursery is moving to a new location and had all their pots on sale.  I got the whole lot for $90!  The big pot will house my fountain.  I’ll fill it with field stones and the water will trickle down the stones in the pot.  I’m so excited for spring!

The Perfect Pumpkin

We headed out to the apple orchard today to pick out a pumpkin.  I thought it would be fun to take Cole out for the hayride to the pumpkin patch and let him pick out a pumpkin.  It was a little drizzly, but all in all a good day.  Here are a few photos.

Check out the boys’ pictures.  Don’t worry, I bought the CD, and the rights, so no copyright infringement.
